God showed him that service IS ministry because building relationships is much more important than just the physical aspect of labor. Works of service are ultimately temporary (and important!), but forming and cultivating relationships with those you serve will last a lifetime… especially when the Gospel is shared and hearts are changed for Jesus Christ.
