A Midland native, Melanie Draves joined our church staff in 2018 after graduating from Spring Arbor University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Worship Ministry.
Her favorite verse is Proverbs 4:11-13: “I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble. Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.” (NLT, New Living Translation)
When describing why this is her favorite passage of scripture, Melanie said, “When I was in college, one of my senior year assignments was to find a life verse, and this verse from Proverbs spoke to me. The way I see it, this is a promise from God that He will be my Teacher, my Guide, my Freedom, my Stability, and my Key to a life worth living. He is my Abba, my Father; He will never let me down.”
A fun fact about Melanie: While growing up she learned how to crochet from her grandma and has loved it ever since. She’s made a handful of baby blankets recently, and her current project is a wedding afghan for a couple of dear friends who were married last fall.
