Why is it that people often long for power and wealth? The people described in the book of Mark were looking for just that – a righteous and powerful King to deliver them from their political adversaries. They expected Jesus to overthrow their Roman oppressors, but Jesus set their expectations straight about what the Messiah would do:
- The Messiah would Suffer
- The Messiah would be Rejected
- The Messiah would be Killed
