Keeping a Kingdom Focus in a Whacked Out World

Keeping a Kingdom Focus in a Whacked Out World

Our culture has changed rapidly over the last 10 years. Words are being redefined, people are confused, families and friends are divided, and anger abounds. If only we had a source of TRUTH that is eternal – a truth for all people at any time….

Praise God, WE DO! We have the unchanging, inerrant, promise-filled, eternal Word of God.

Listen as Pastor Chuck begins the new year in a timely sermon from 2 Peter 1:3-4 in the sermon, Keeping a Kingdom Focus in a Whacked-Out World.

Truths and promises from Scripture that will sustain us in tough times:
  1. God is not surprised by any world developments.
    (Job 28:24; Isaiah 40:28; Psalm 147:5)
  2. All things work together for good for those who love God.
    (Romans 8:28)
  3. Truth will set you free.
    (John 8:31-32; 1 Peter 5:10)
  4. I (Jesus) am with you always EVEN to the end of this age.
    (Matthew 28:20; Isaiah 41:10)
  5. This world is not our home.
    (Philippians 3:20-21; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; 1 Peter 2:11)
  6. Jesus is coming back.
    (Matthew 24:30; Titus 2:12-13)
Keys to Perseverance:

1.        Claiming the promises of scripture. (1 Corinthians 1:20)

2.        Surround yourself with believers who will spur you on. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

3.        Focusing on the unseen and eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

4.        Persevere in prayer. (Colossians 4:2)

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV

16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Philippians 3:20-21 ESV
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

1 Peter 1:24-25 ESV

“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
    and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
